Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between Java Edition and Bedrock Edition?

Java Edition (Vanilla, Paper, Forge, Fabric, and their variants) runs on PC and Mac and supports the full modding and plugin ecosystem. Bedrock Edition runs on mobile, console, and Windows, and supports cross-play across those platforms, but uses its own add-on system instead of Java mods or plugins.

Can Bedrock and Java players play on the same server?

Not directly. Java and Bedrock use incompatible networking protocols, so a Bedrock plan and a Java plan are separate servers. Third-party proxy software can bridge them, but it isn't included by default.

How much RAM do I need for a Minecraft server?

2 GB is enough for a small Vanilla or Paper survival server with a handful of players. Modded servers on Forge or NeoForge typically need at least 4 GB, and larger modpacks or player counts benefit from more.

Can I install a modpack after my server is already running?

Yes, use the one-click modpack installer in your panel at any time. It backs up your existing world first, so you can switch or update modpacks without losing progress.

Can I switch between loaders later, like Paper to Purpur or Forge to NeoForge?

Yes, you can change loaders from your panel. Switching between fundamentally different setups, like Vanilla to a heavily modded pack, may need a fresh world depending on what mods you add.

How many players can join my server?

There's no player cap built into your plan. Your slot limit comes down to the RAM and CPU you configure, not an artificial restriction.

Can I move my existing Minecraft world to Vaelix?

Yes, upload your existing world folder through the file manager or sFTP and point your server at it. This works for Vanilla, Paper, and modded worlds alike.

Do I need to know how to code or use the command line?

No. Everything, including mod and plugin installation, backups, and settings, is managed through your Pelican panel. You can send in-game commands directly through the console, but shell or command-line access to the server itself isn't provided.
